January Indianapolis Monthly Shoot

Cover It was a pleasure meeting Greg Ballard. I'm not much into politics but I was grateful for the opportunity to help with this cover.

For his makeup, I used OCC primer, and then airbrushed the foundation on. The beauty of airbrushing foundation is that it's quick (he was on a short time frame so we didn't get much time with him), and it looks natural. My biggest peeve, especially on men, is when they look makeup-y. (Is makeup-y a word?) I can't stand when they have on so much makeup.

Anyway, Mayor Ballard was such a gentleman, and pleasant to work with. (Not all politicians that I've worked with before are so pleasant!) I wish him well with his new position.

Wow, it's 2008

Can you believe it's 2008? 2007 was a great year, quite a learning experience, and exciting. One of my big projects last year was LeCosmetique.com. It finally launched last year, but already it needs to be redone. The new and improved should launched in a week or two! Hopefully!

Lash_box_pic_3 Also the creation of LeCosmetique.com led to the development of eyeMAX Cosmetics. I saw a void that needed to be filled by offering a wide range of lashes, which is a popular product on the site. I'm currently working on some fab prototypes that will later launch this year. And of course, my clients are the first onesFlirties_pic that get to experience my new products! It was so exciting that they were featured in the January issue of Indianapolis Monthly, and the "Flirties"  were also used on a model for a photoshoot that will appear in the March issue of Seventeen Magazine.

It was also a busy year with brides. I had 40 something bridal parties, and I am so blessed to meet such wonderful women. It's such an honor to be chosen to do a bride's makeup, and it's so much more than makeup. It's making a bride feel her best, confident, most beautiful, and radiant than ever before.

Also, the studio was completed recently. It's where I house all my product as well as do my private Studio_pic_2 consultations. It was finished just in time for the holiday beauty nights which were so much fun, I"ll definitely do them again next year.

I must say that I'm a bit spoiled having this studio. I thoroughly enjoy working out of the studio, and it makes for a nice bright place for bridal run-throughs.Dsc01507

Speaking of brides, if you are reading this and looking for a makeup artist, I offer all my brides a complimentary consultation. So just drop me an e-mail if you'd like to stop by sometime. Consultations give the bride an opportunity to meet me, check out my portfolio, and chat about bridal makeup. We'll discuss my approach to makeup, and how I work differently than other makeup artists.

The studio isn't just for bridal makeup.. I do lessons for all ages, special occasion makeup, airbrush makeup, etc. Or, if you want to stop by to check out some product, just give me a buzz. My schedule is flexible...

Anyways, I know that this is such a long post. I'm trying to make up for not writing in so long!! So that's my New Year's resolution. Write on blog, including makeup tips, makeup how-to videos, and answer makeup questions! I hope you have a great 2008!

September 24, 2007

I've been meaning to post this entry for awhile from my September 8th wedding. It was such a pleasure to meet Jacquelyn and her sister and mom! Jacquelyn is another great example that you don't have to wear alot of makeup to be beautiful on your wedding day. Alot of girls don't wear alot of makeup on an everyday basis, and my goal is to make brides feel beautiful without heavy and caked on makeup!

However, it is fun to play up features with a little more color. Her sister wanted to go more dramatic with the eyes. She also had this fabulous green dress, so we went a bit more sassy with her makeup. We balanced out her eyemakeup with soft, glossy lips. It was also a pleasure working with Wanda with Glam, etc. she always turns out gorgeous hair!

Randall Todd with Todd Studio shot her wedding, and this was one of my favorite shots of the girls!

Working with Jessica Strickland again!

It's always a pleasure when I find out that I have a mutual bride with Jessica Strickland! She's artistic, Kellygcreative with photography, and I love her style!

Kelly the bride had beautiful blue eyes! We stayed soft with the eye color and concentrated on highlighting to brighten the eyes. We saved the color for her lips and cheeks. I used one of my fave colors "cherry my cola" lip gloss by theBalm and Plum Foolery by MAC on her cheeks.

Everyone got ready downtown at the Omni... which is perfect for me because they have such great lighting! The suites are 2-story and let in tons of natural light. I did Kelly's, her mom's (what a sweetheart!) makeup and snapped on several pairs of falsies so everyone could feel beautiful!Kelly3_2 Kellyg2_2

Beth's wedding makeup

Beth was the first of my August brides. We decided on a soft and bronzy look.2692_3092_cruzpenelope03400lo We took a bit of inspiration from Penelope Cruz for the color palette, and decided to a little less smoky on the eyes. We did add false lashes (a must in my opinion!) to complete the look.

I met Beth and her bridesmaids at Hairspray Salon at Keystone at the Crossing, where they did a fab job on everyone! Beth's hair was chic and elegant and I couldn't wait for the photos to come out so I could see how everything turned out!

Speaking of photos, Shelly Valentine did beautiful photography for Beth's wedding. You'll have to check out her site at ShellyValentinePhoto.com. Beth made a beautiful bride... I think you would agree!
